Finding the right team

As mentioned, I have been playing squash since I was a kid, and in my family the sport has always been a big part of our lives. Over the years, it became more than just a game to me, and it also showed me a real problem in Zambia’s youth squash scene. My cousin Jimmy Karabassis and I started noticing talented young players with serious potential being held back, not because they lacked skill, but because of lack of money, weak support systems, or even mismanagement of funds. That is when we realised it would take more than money to change youth squash in Zambia. It would take leadership, structure, mentorship, and people who genuinely care, which is why I knew exactly what my personal project would be and where my support could start from.

That is how Jimmy was signed on to help. He is the Vice President of the Squash Association of Zambia and a leader and sponsor of the Nchanga Squash Club, bringing guidance and accountability to the program. We also signed on one of the most passionate coaches we know, Mr. Nathan Kalembwe, because of his drive and his commitment to helping youth players in his community improve at Nchanga Rackets Club in Chingola. Together, we are working to build something that gives young players real support and a clearer pathway to grow.
